Senator Lisa Baker will be joined by elected officials, business and community leaders, and area veterans to announce the introduction of legislation to designate the Church Street Bridge, located on SR 0006 and SR 191 in Honesdale, Wayne County, as the Brigadier General Richard J. Tallman Memorial Bridge.
The news conference is scheduled for Friday, December 10th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. It will be held in the conference room of the Wayne County Chamber, 32 Commercial Street, Honesdale.
Born in Honesdale in1925, Brigadier General Richard J. Tallman served in World War II and received a battlefield commission following the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1949. He was killed in action on July 9, 1972, during the Battle of An L?c in South Vietnam. He was the last general killed during the Vietnam War.
