Sen. Lisa Baker speaks about House Bill 1324, known as the PA GI Bill, which was signed into law today. The law creates a program allowing spouses and children of Pennsylvania National Guard members to attend college at no or reduced cost. It is the first program of its kind in the nation.
Baker Supports State Budget That Increases Education and Farming Funding, Holds Line On Taxes

The Legislature approved a Fiscal Year 2019-20 spending plan that provides funding for essential services, promotes workforce development efforts, bolsters education spending at all levels and makes a substantial investment in the state Rainy Day Fund, according to Senator Lisa Baker, R-20th, who voted in favor of the bill. There are no tax increases, and a plan to tax municipalities utilizing State Police coverage was rejected.

Economic Justice for DRBC Takings

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee voted to move Senator Lisa Baker’s SB 305 out of committee today and send it to the full Senate. The bill provides economic justice for landowners in the Delaware River Basin Commission who are impacted by any natural gas drilling ban and calls for them to be compensated in the same manner that is used to determine value in any other eminent domain action. Baker spoke on her bill and answered questions from committee members.
