It was a privilege to stand with the Plymouth Historical Society as they dedicated a mural honoring the 198 miners and 2 rescuers who lost their lives in the 1869 Avondale mining disaster, as well as all those who labored in the anthracite mines. The ceremony was a powerful tribute to their sacrifice and to the generations who built this region through courage and hard work.

Representative Alec Ryncavage and I had the opportunity to see the work underway at the Hanover Area School District and the exciting progress already taking shape. We toured the high school campus and the district’s new elementary campus, getting a firsthand look at the facilities and the needs being considered as the project moves forward. It’s an investment that will strengthen the community and support students for generations to come 🏫👷🏼🔨

Constitution Day was when the Founding Fathers delivered on the promises of the American Revolution. Ratification meant the thirteen colonies would march together in this great experiment in self government. Some great men from Pennsylvania were prominent in the convention, including Benjamin Franklin and James Wilson. Each year, we express gratitude for leaders who contributed their talents and energies toward this daunting task and had the wisdom to find common ground to make the document possible. Thank you to the Tunkhannock Chapter DAR for making sure we reread the document and appreciate its core virtues🇺🇸

25 years ago, as we shifted through the smoking rubble and dealt with the shock and devastating terrorist attacks of 9/11, we knew America would be forever changed. The images of destruction have not faded. The pain of loss has not subsided. Sadness still shadows our hearts and minds.

We were shaken out of our false sense of security. We were shocked that people of evil intent could kill so many good people on our soil. We were awed by the extraordinary courage of ordinary people summoned in moments of gravest peril. We were inspired by the countless first responders who ignored catastrophic danger to courageously attempt to save lives and recover victims.

Today’s 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony hosted by @luzernecommunitycollege recounted the life story of NYPD Vincent G. Danz, as told by his brother Felix, who shared a powerful message about courage, conviction and character of a man taken to soon. We will Never Forget. 🕊️

Today, we should take time to recount all that is right in America. Even at a time when there is doubt and distrust across our nation, the truth remains that we are blessed with the rights and privileges assured to us under our democracy. We still have work to do to fulfill the pledges we solemnly made to the thousands of victims of 9/11. For all that remains to be done, Let’s Roll. 🇺🇸❤️
