Western Wayne Freshman Job Shadows Senator Baker

HARRISBURG – Nadia Vanyo, a freshman at Western Wayne High School, served as a guest page on the Senate floor and spent May 23 job shadowing Sen. Lisa Baker, R-20th.

Nadia, the daughter of Bill and Vicki Vanyo of Lake Ariel, was introduced by the senator during session and was able to take photos on the Senate floor with Sen. Baker.
“She is not sure of what her career path will be but she has an interest in politics and is excited to have the opportunity to see government in action,” Baker told her fellow senators.
Nadia planted the seed to visit Harrisburg and spend the day with the senator on Sept. 20 when she was one of dozens of local high school students from the Western Wayne, Wallenpaupack Area, North Pocono, Wayne Highlands and Delaware Valley school districts that attended the annual Women in Science/STEM Symposium hosted by Lacawac Sanctuary & Field Station and Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance at Woodloch Resort. At that event, in which Sen. Baker was the keynote speaker, Nadia spoke with the senator and broached the idea of job shadowing her.
