Baker Bill to Strengthen Prosecution of Child Sex Offenders Becomes Law

(HARRISBURG) Legislation sponsored by Senator Lisa Baker (R-20) will strengthen the prosecution of child sex offenders. The new law allows the state attorney general to join with county district attorneys to investigate sexual abuse cases that cross county or state lines.

“There was a hole in the process that made it more difficult to prosecute sexual offenders who use the Internet to prey on children,” Baker said. “This measure fills that gap and brings Pennsylvania in-line with other states by giving the attorney general full power to prosecute child pornographers.”

The bill was signed by the governor today.
