Senator Baker Urges Fire and EMS Units to Seek Grants

Volunteer Companies Have Until October 23 to Apply for Funds

Senator Lisa Baker (R-20) is urging local volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services (EMS) squads to apply for grants from the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.

The online application for the grants is available through October 23 at www.osfc.state.pa.us. Grants may be used for the purchase or repair of firefighting or rescue equipment, construction or renovation costs for facilities, training, or debt reduction. Grants range from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $15,000 for volunteer fire companies and rescue companies or $10,000 for volunteer ambulance companies.

Volunteer fire companies that also provide volunteer ambulance service are eligible to apply for both a volunteer fire company grant and a volunteer ambulance service grant.

“These dedicated men and women give countless hours of their time and energy to keep our communities and our neighbors safe,” Baker said. “This program helps with the funding they need to do their jobs more safely and effectively.”
