- Joseph Brooks, President of Liberty USO – Will brief the committee on
the services the United Service Organization (USO) provides military personnel
and their families. Liberty USO is the Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey
affiliate of the World USO, which a congressionally-chartered nonprofit
organization that has served the nation's armed forces since 1941.
- Senate Resolution 205, Printer's Number 1505 (Alloway) – A
resolution urging Congress to restore the presumption of a service connection
for Agent Orange exposure for veterans who served on the waterways, territorial
waters and airspace of Vietnam and in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia by passing the
Agent Orange Equity Act of 2009.
- House Resolution 403, Printer's Number 2421 (Moul) – A concurrent
resolution urging Congress to restore the presumption of a service connection
for Agent Orange exposure for veterans who served on the waterways, territorial
waters and airspace of Vietnam and in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia by passing the
Agent Orange Equity Act of 2009.
- Senate Resolution 287, Printer's Number 287 (Mensch) – A resolution
expressing support for Congress to designate the "Honor and Remember Flag" as a
national emblem recognizing the service and sacrifice of fallen soldiers.
- Senate Bill 384, Printer's Number 382 (Folmer) – Allows the
Adjutant General to commission qualified employees of the Department of Military
and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) to act as police officers at DMVA institutions and
in neighboring municipalities that have cooperative police agreements. This bill
is similar to HB 933, which passed the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency
Preparedness Committee in February 2010.
- House Bill 1789, Printer's Number 3132 (Solobay) – Amends Act 78 of
1990, commonly known as the 911 Emergency Telephone Act, to provide for further
collection of the existing 911 surcharge of $1 to "prepaid" wireless phones,
phone cards or a prepaid wireless device. This bill proposes collection of the
surcharge at the point-of-sale.
