HARRISBURG -- The Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee, chaired by Sen. Tommy Tomlinson (R-Bucks), and the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, chaired by Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne), will hold a joint public hearing on storm-related issues concerning utility services at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18 in Hearing Room 1 of the North Office Building in the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg.  The hearing will be streamed live at www.pasenategop.com.

Representatives from the Public Utility Commission, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, PPL, First Energy, UGI and other electric, gas and water utilities will testify.  Issues to be addressed will include how restoration schedules are communicated to residents, how mutual assistance agreements are structured, and whether power shutoffs were used to force evacuations.
