Statement by Senator Lisa Baker on Senate Passage of a Realistic Budget Plan

Harrisburg – "Today, the Senate approved a balanced state budget that does not raise taxes.  We listened to families, businesses and community institutions who have been forced to cut back on spending as a result of the recession and came up with a plan that is more in line with taxpayer interests. 

In talking with people across the district, they overwhelming prefer that we cut government spending rather than increase state taxes dramatically.  Under this budget, we will spend significantly less that we did last year while preserving key programs such as veterans care."
