January 27, 2009 – The Pennsylvania War Veterans Council held a legislative breakfast reception to discuss their goals for 2009.  Above Senator Baker stands with members of the various veterans’ service organizations that comprise the council.

January 16, 2009 – Senator Baker attended the Back Mountain Police Association (BMPA) Dinner where she presented a citation to commemorate the association’s 50th anniversary.  Above Senator Baker addresses the crowd of more than 100 guests as Kingston Township police officer and BMPA President Martin Maransky looks on.

January 16, 2009 – Former state Senator Charles Lemmond turned 80 on January 17, 2009. He proudly shares his birthday with founding father Benjamin Franklin, born 303 years ago. Above, Lemmond is congratulated by Senator Lisa Baker during a celebration with family and friends.

January 15, 2009 – Following the Pennsylvania Farm Show’s public officials’ luncheon, Senator Baker stopped by the Equine Barn to meet Duke, Senator Mike Waugh’s percheron draft horse.  Joining them above is their newly elected colleague Senator Lloyd Smucker (R-13), representing York and Lancaster counties.

January 14, 2009 – The Northern Wayne Property Owners’ Alliance (NWPOA) and representatives of the Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau met with state legislators to discuss issues regarding natural gas drilling.  The NWPOA represents approximately 1,500 families and 70,000 acres of land in Wayne and Susquehanna counties.  Pictured above in the front row are: Representative Major and Senator Baker.  Standing in the back row are: Representative Peifer; Marian Schweighofer, executive director, NWPOA; Paul Macknosky, district director, Congressman Carney’s office; and Liz Forrest, legislative assistant, Representative Siptroth’s office.

January 14, 2009 – Senator Baker presented a Senate Certificate to Ruth Dennis in honor of her 101st birthday. Ruth, a resident of the Wayne Delaware Manor, celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, December 23rd surrounded by family and friends.

January 13, 2009 – Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre hosted a luncheon with elected officials at King’s College allowing students to interact with community leaders and decision-makers.  Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre is a program designed for high school juniors that encourages and enables students to develop their leadership skills and increases their awareness of the elements that form their community.  From left to right are, row 1: Mariah Raspen; Kate Williams; Leigh Hillman; Irina Ackerman; and row 2: Hillary Schaub, Andrew McCabe; Representative Boback; Senator Baker; Carson Baker; Katelyn Reinert.

January 6, 2009 – Senator Baker joins, from left to right, Senator Pat Vance (R-31), Senator Jane Earll (R-49) and Senator Mary Jo White (R-21) following their swearing-in ceremony in Harrisburg.  Senator’s three colleagues were sworn in to new, four-year terms at the start of the 2009-2010 legislative session.

January 6, 2009 – Senator Baker congratulates Senator Yaw during the swearing-in ceremony at the State Capitol.  Senator Yaw represents the 23rd Senatorial District and serves constituents in Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Union Counties.
