 July 31, 2008 – Senator Baker was greeted by
Mayor Merritt Quinn of Milford during her tour of Grey Towers National
Historic Site. Grey Towers is a mansion set on 102 acres of forested land
that was once the home of Gifford Pinchot, the first Chief of the United
States Forest Service and twice-elected Governor of Pennsylvania. Video of
Senator Baker’s tour of the estate will appear on an upcoming episode of her
television program, The Baker Report.

July 31, 2008 – Senator Baker enjoys the
scenery along with Mathilda Sheptak (right), deputy executive director of
the Pocono Mountain Visitor’s Bureau, and her husband Steve at the 5th
Annual Pocono Mountains Community Fundraiser. The event, held at Skytop
Lodge and Resort, recognizes nonprofit organizations serving Monroe
County. Those receiving funding this year were Pegasus Child Advocacy
Center, The Salvation Army, Visual Impairment and Blindness Services,
and Women’s Resources of Monroe County. |

July 29, 2008 – Senator Baker joined Pike County Public Library (PCPL)
supporters as they announced a $10,000 Community Revitalization Grant from the
Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The funding will
be used to help with the septic permitting process for the new headquarters of

July 28, 2008 – Senator Baker presented a citation to Heron's
Eye Communications, which received the 2008 Governor's Award for Environmental
Excellence. The Pike County business received the award because of its work on
the public television documentary film Nature’s Keepers: A Community of
Conservationists, which will air on WVIA-TV this fall. Above, the Senator

Partnership Legislative Breakfast. The Conservation Partnership was formed in
2004, and provides a way for different organizations in Pike, Wayne, and Monroe
counties and other portions of the region to work together to promote
