December 12, 2007 – Senator
Baker was joined by representatives of veterans’ service organizations,
the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs and others who worked
to advance Senate Bill 915. The legislation was drafted to improve and
better coordinate veterans outreach and support programs in the
Commonwealth and was cosponsored by all 50 Senators. Above, Senator

December 10, 2007 - Senator Baker addresses the crowd during the Pennsylvania
Funeral Directors Association Wreath-Laying Ceremony. The service was part of
the Wreaths Across America project, a national effort to place wreaths on
veteran’s graves at more than 230 cemeteries across the country. |

December 8, 2007 - The Shohola Township Board of Supervisors honored George
J. Fluhr for 30 years of public and community service. Above Senator Baker joins
elected officials and representatives from several community organizations who
paid tribute to George (seated center).

December 8, 2007 - Daddow-Issacs
American Legion Post 672, Dallas, Luzerne County, held a Pearl Harbor
Remembrance Breakfast to mark the sixty-sixth anniversary of the attack. Above,
Senator Baker and Post Commander Clarence Michael stand with World War II
veterans who shared memories of their experience.

The Wyoming
Valley West Middle School Choir sings holiday songs on the rotunda steps at the
state capitol.

December 5, 2007 - Students from the Dallas Middle School Jazz Band and
Select Chorus performed at the state capitol in Harrisburg. Above, Senator Baker

November 21, 2007 – As part of
their community service project, Crestwood High School seniors Mary
Aigeldinger and Jennifer Birk organized a special mailing for local
soldiers. The students gathered donations from throughout the community
and raised money to send the care packages to troops stationed in Iraq
and Afghanistan. Senator Baker contributed a special note and flag pin
as part of the effort. Kneeling in the front row are boy scouts Brian

November 13, 2007 –
Stephanie Jallen of Wyoming, Pennsylvania spoke to the Senate to share her story
about overcoming adversity. Although born with a rare birth defect that left her
without her left arm and leg, she has become an accomplished skier and is
working to become a member of the US Paralympics skiing team. Above, from left
