Sen. Lisa Baker issued the following statement on Gov. Tom Wolf’s veto of the stop-gap budget approved by the legislature:
“Since a settlement on the state budget does not seem imminent, it seems a misjudgment on the part of the governor to put negotiating position ahead of the operating difficulties of service providers and the needs of those depending on state services. A stopgap is not good government, but it is preferable to service reductions or provider shutdowns that cannot be recovered by those adversely affected. A veto is a no win for the public interest.”
